If you are running Windows Home edition, Hyper-V won't be available. Follow this tutorial to upgrade to Windows Pro for free using Command Prompt.
Upgrade Windows Home → Pro (REQUIRED FOR HYPER-V)
⚠️ Hyper-V is NOT available on Windows Home
You must upgrade to Windows Pro to continue
✅ If you are already on Pro / Education / Enterprise → SKIP THIS SECTION
🔍 Step 1 — Check Your Windows Version
Press Win + R
Type: winver → press Enter
Check your version:
✅ Windows 10/11 Pro → You can skip
❌ Windows 10/11 Home → Continue below
🧹 Step 2 — Remove Current Activation Key
⚠️ Run Command Prompt as Administrator
Run each command one by one:
slmgr.vbs /upk
➡️ Removes your current activation key (click OK)
➡️ Clears key from registry
➡️ Clears KMS server
🔎 Step 3 — Check Upgrade Eligibility
Run:
✅ If you see Professional → you can upgrade
❌ If not → stop here (your system may not support it)
🚀 Step 4 — Run Windows Pro Installer
Paste ALL of this into Command Prompt (Admin):
⏳ Step 5 — What to Expect
Installer will start and show % progress
Wait until it reaches 100%
You will get an error message → ✅ THIS IS NORMAL
Click Exit
Restart your PC
After restart:
Windows will show:
➜ “Running updates and installing features”
Let it fully complete
✅ Step 6 — Verify Windows Pro
Press Win + R
Type: winver → press Enter
Confirm it says:
✅ Windows 10 Pro
✅ Windows 11 Pro
💡 It may temporarily show Enterprise — this is normal . If it shows Pro or Enterprise, the upgrade was successful. If it still shows Home, try running the commands again.
